Abstract

This research was to see the effect of Patin (Pangasius hypopthalmus) bone flour on the growth of fetal mice. This research began with the manufacture of Patin bone flour by using an autoclave, pressure heating method, and then the flour determined the proximate. Flour was formulated 2% BW by varying the dosage in multiples of 2, each of which was suspended into 0.5 % NaCMC, and one control group. The flours were administered to the mice on the 6th to 15th day of pregnancy then given only and drink until the 18th day the animals were given food and drink only. Laparotomy was performed on the 18th day. The results showed that the flour was in the form of a fine and soft powder, white in color, had no taste/blandness and had a slightly fishy smell. The yield of flour was 11.75 % water content of flour 7.6856 %, ash content of 51.58 %, 0 % carbohydrate, protein 24.11 %, total fat 12.75 %; Calcium 6.124 %, Fe 1.38 x 10-4 %; Zn 3.614 x 10-3 %; P 19.8521 %. In observing the parent's body weight, giving the test preparation affected the bodyweight of the mother (p <0.05), namely the dose of flour 0.4 g (p <0.05). Meanwhile, observations of fetal body weight showed that the provision of preparations could significantly influence fetal body weight (p <0.05) where the dose that affected increasing fetal body weight was 0.1 g (p <0.05). In contrast to fetal length, the provision of preparations did not significantly affect fetal length (p> 0.05). The fetal frame did not show significant changes, and fetal organs were finished or not found teratogenic effects. Keywords: Boneflour; Pangasius hypopthalmus; Fetus
