Abstract

Hospitalization in children is a cycle to manage or crisis reasons require the child to remain in the clinic for treatment until returning home. The feelings that often arise in children who are hospitalized are anxiety, anger, sadness and fear that arise due to facing new things, insecurity and comfort, feelings of losing something that is usually experienced, and something that is painful. One of the efforts to reduce the level of anxiety in children can be done with play therapy activities. Puzzle is a game that uses perseverance and accuracy in compiling it. The purpose of this study was to describe how the application of puzzle play therapy to reduce the anxiety level of preschool-aged children who were hospitalized. This type of research is descriptive using qualitative research methods conducted on 28-31 May 2022. The subjects in this study were two preschool age children who experienced anxiety while undergoing hospitalization. The results showed that subject 1 and subject 2 experienced a decrease in anxiety levels after getting puzzle playing therapy. The conclusion is that puzzle play therapy is effectively given to children who experience anxiety while undergoing hospitalization. Keywords: Anxiety, Hospitalization, Puzzle Play Therapy
