Abstract

Di Indonesia jumlah perokok terbilang cukup banyak dan justru meningkat karena kebiasaan merokok sudah menjadi bagian dari gaya hidup masyarakat. Berbagai fakta mengungkapkan bahwa bila semakin banyak remaja yang merokok, maka semakin besar kemungkinan teman-temannya adalah perokok dan demikian sebaliknya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan interaksi teman sebaya dengan perilaku merokok pada remaja laki-laki di SMP Negeri 37 Pekanbaru. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 121 orang. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah teknik Probability Sampling dengan jumlah sampel 55 responden. Analisa data menggunakan uji Chi-square pada derajat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa remaja kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 37 Pekanbaru memiliki interaksi teman sebaya yang kuat sebanyak 81,8% dan remaja yang berperilaku merokok rendah sebanyak 56,4%. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan p value=0,009 yang berarti ada hubungan yang signifikan antara interaksi teman sebaya dengan perilaku merokok pada remaja laki-laki di SMP Negeri 37 Pekanbaru. Diharapkan bagi pihak sekolah untuk bisa melakukan tindakan pencegahan perilaku merokok dan diharapkan pihak sekolah untuk memberikan arahan dan pengajaran bagi siswa yang merokok.
