Abstract

Nutritional status is a state of the body that is a reflection of what we eat everyday. Nutritional status is said to be good if our diet is balanced. That is, the amount, frequency and type of food we consume must be in accordance with needs. The type of food is a variety of foods eaten at each meal. A good diet must meet the principles of balanced and healthy nutrition, namely dishes consisting of staple foods, side dishes, vegetables and fruits. The frequency of eating is the amount of food eaten in a day. The frequency of eating well is 3 times a day. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the type, frequency of eating and nutritional status of the elderly at PSTW Khusnul Khotimah, Pekanbaru City. This research is descriptive with cross sectional research design. This research was conducted at PSTW Khusnul Khotimah in Pekanbaru City with a sample of 28 people consisting of 18 men and 10 women. Univariate analysis was carried out on nutritional status variables, food genres, and eating frequency. The results showed that the types of food of respondents generally had enough types of food as many as 27 people (79.5%), while having less food types as many as 1 person (3.6%). The frequency of eating of respondents in general has a sufficient frequency of eating as many as 23 people (82.1%), while having a frequency of eating less as many as 5 people (17.9%). The nutritional status of respondents in general was normal nutrition as many as 15 people (53.6%), over nutrition as many as 5 people (17.9%), thinner as many as 3 people (10.7%), very thin as many as 3 people (10.7 %), and obesity is 2 people (7.1%). Need for further research with more complete variables and use nutritional assessment methods in addition to the food frequency questioner method.
